Virtual Workshop: Collective Storytelling as Worldbuilding

Are you a spaceholder, organizer, educator, worldbuilder, or community maker looking for tools that can sustain your community through this messy context? Are you looking to expand your creative tool kit to meet the current context?

Join us on July 2nd, 12-1:30pm Central Time. This workshop offering is part of a collaboration between Chel Viteri and Zia Kandler from Mazorca Facilitation, and Stephanie Knox Steiner from University for Peace.

Stories shape our realities. They hold the power to illuminate possibilities, challenge dominant narratives, and remind us of our agency in times of uncertainty. This workshop explores how storytelling can be a tool for world-building and transformation while inviting you to engage with tools to co-create stories that foster connection, possibility, and movement. By sharing and weaving our narratives together, we strengthen the foundation for collective action and imagine new ways forward.

Through guided reflection, dialogue, and creative exercises, we will grapple with key questions: How can stories help us regain a sense of agency? What stories do we need to remember, unlearn, and re-create to help us show up in our current context? We will examine the relationship between hope, agency, and community and draw inspiration from Rebecca Solnit’s understanding of hope, not as a guarantee of a better future but as the commitment to show up despite uncertainty.
